1. Our Commitment

At Edvance Tuition, we are committed to safeguarding the welfare of all our learners, especially children and vulnerable individuals. We believe that language and cultural education should take place in an environment that is safe, respectful, and nurturing for all.

2. Who This Policy Applies To

This policy applies to:

• All Edvance Tuition staff and tutors (whether paid or voluntary)

• Parents/guardians using our services

• Learners, including children under 18

3. Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

The DSL is responsible for ensuring this policy is followed, handling any safeguarding concerns, and liaising with relevant authorities if needed.

4. Online Safety Measures

We take the following steps to ensure the safety of learners during online sessions:

• Lessons are conducted via secure platforms (e.g. Zoom) with meeting links shared privately

• Tutors are trained in safe online teaching practices

• No lesson is recorded without prior written consent from parents/guardians

• Tutors will never request or store unnecessary personal information about children 

5. Code of Conduct for Tutors

Tutors must:

• Treat all learners with respect and dignity

• Avoid inappropriate or overly personal language or behavior

• Never be alone with a child in a non-transparent or unmonitored setting

• Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the DSL 

6. Parental Involvement

We encourage parents or guardians to:

• Supervise or remain present during online lessons, especially for younger children

• Communicate with tutors or the DSL about any concerns

• Ensure their child is in a safe and suitable learning environment

7. Responding to Concerns

If a safeguarding concern arises:

• It should be reported immediately to the DSL

• The DSL will document the concern and decide if external reporting is necessary (e.g. to the NSPCC or local authority)

• Confidentiality will be maintained, but not at the risk of a child’s safety

8. Review and Updates

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if legislation or practice changes.
